The Junkyard Revival Is Bringing The Spirit of Junkyard To San Diego

Some experiences are too good to leave behind, and the Junkyard is one of those. It’s a home for late-night connection, art, and dance floor magic, and on Saturday, July 11, its spirit comes roaring back to life. The Junkyard Revival is taking over a secret San Diego location for one night only, bringing the full energy, art, and immersive sound that made Junkyard so special.

The Revival is a collaboration between three of San Diego’s most exciting collectives: AMA Sounds, BODEGA, and The Usual Suspects. All of these groups have helped shape the city’s electronic music community in its own way. AMA Sounds has built a strong following through carefully curated events centered on music and connection creating a journey rather than a party for everyone on the dancefloor. BODEGA brings a distinct creative and musical perspective designed for house and techno purists to the local scene, and The Usual Suspects has spent years connecting San Diego dancers with both local talent and international underground artists. Together, the three collectives are recreating the immersive world of Junkyard, bringing art, community, music, and sound together for one unforgettable night.

Leading the charge is a lineup of artists who defined this year’s Junkyard experience. GiZ, Nico Moon, and of course Patricio are all returning to deliver the standout sets that helped make Junkyard legendary.

GiZ brings in dark, bass-driven tracks with a few surprises mixed in that make it impossible to stand still. Her sound has been crafted from experiences across the globe, creating a style that refuses to sit inside any single border or genre, easing a crowd in before deciding when to turn it up. Her stage presence has carried her from House of Yes in New York to clubs and festivals around the world, and that energy is exactly what Junkyard runs on.

Nico Moon carries his sound from Buenos Aires to Miami, where he founded the weekly series The Hall and co-founded Sensations, both built to connect local talent with the wider dance world. His sets move fluidly between indie dance and house.

Patricio has long been the architect behind the Junkyard sound. He came up out of Buenos Aires as well, and he has been spinning since 1992 with a style that runs deep from experience and will pull you onto the floor, keeping you there for hours. He’s the founder of The Junkyard and knows how to control that stage better than anyone else.

Rounding out the night is the extended Junkyard family, bringing together local roots and international influences. With Tyler Chase, Zohar, Mario Lui, Peopfit and Polk, all the artists on the lineup are bringing distinct styles and a blend of genres that will keep everyone on the dancefloor until the morning. Tyler Chase, founder of the BODEGA event series and record label, brings a set that pushes indie dance into techno and everything in between. Zohar brings her crowds on a sonic journey with a percussive, low-end-driven sound and her ZHR label. Mario Lui, a Venezuelan artist now based in San Diego, weaves Latin and Caribbean rhythms through deep Afro house, minimal, and progressive house. Pepofit, from Buenos Aires by way of California, brings raw Afro-house energy and pulsing drum work. Polk, out of San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina, moves across house, indie dance, nu-disco, and melodic techno with deep bass and percussive rhythms. To make sure all of these artists can deliver the full experience of their music, Junkyard is bringing an iconic sound system guaranteed to provide the perfect sound.

Sound is at the core of any Junkyard show and it sits at the heart of The Junkyard Revival. For more than 50 years, Turbosound has been at the forefront of professional audio, helping reshape how music is experienced around the world. On Saturday that sound will be powering The Junkyard Revival. In the 1990s, a flagship Turbosound system made its way to the United States through Jon Cooper (R.I.P.), becoming part of the foundation of what is now known as the Desert Renegade scene. Now that soundsystem is ready to return.

Over the past several years, Monoloco of The Usual Suspects has been carefully refurbishing this historic system, restoring its components and bringing it back to life. At The Junkyard Revival, it will once again have the opportunity to sing, delivering the powerful low end, crystal-clear detail, and immersive sound for which Turbosound is renowned. Every kick, bassline, and subtle texture will be felt as the artists intended, making the sound system an essential part of the night’s experience.

More than the music, Junkyard has always been about the people. The Revival carries that same feeling, an immersive atmosphere where art, community, and music come together and strangers become friends by sunrise. The Junkyard creates a space for everyone and if you spent any time there this year, you already know what to expect. If you didn’t, this is your chance to see what everyone has been talking about.

The Junkyard Revival goes down Saturday, July 11, from 9:30 pm until late at a secret San Diego location revealed to ticket holders. Tickets are available at the link below.
