The Minneapolis-based band Part Time Ex’s is set to return this fall for their 11th annual fundraiser performance benefiting Austin Area Arts, and will be taking the stage on Friday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Austin ArtWorks Center.

Led by Austin High School alumni Jon Stowell (1999), Nick Tobar (2003), and Adam Johnson (1998), the band will be joined by returning bassist Jon Fischler and percussionist Kory Klouse (2020).

“Four of the five guys playing this year are AHS alums — art works in Austin,” said Stowell, the band’s front man.

Known for their high-energy performances, Part Time Ex’s blends original rock songs with blues and Americana standards, drawing inspiration from legends like The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan.

“I always tell people we’re a rock and roll band, like the Stones or Petty or Dylan. Folks need a reference point when you tell them ‘rock and roll band,’” Stowell said.

Their 2025 show is expected to build on the success of last year’s performance, which was featured in Blue Monday Monthly.

Rayce Hardy praised the group, saying: “Stowell’s writing and delivery make the listener feel they know his inner thoughts and feelings. For me, that is what makes a songwriter a great songwriter.”

“Part Time Ex’s is a rock and roll band fueled by broken hearts and hope and love… high energy and loud vocals, screaming lead guitar and driving rhythm — straight rock and roll bangers. They could never love you like we do,” said Stowell.

Tickets for the show are $5 at the door.
