Adam Sandler Is Living in Montclair While Filming New Movie

He could be an honorary New Jerseyan at this point!

Adam Sandler, who stayed in the Garden State while shooting Happy Gilmore 2 last fall, is living in Jersey yet again while filming his latest flick, this time in the Montclair area, sources exclusively tell New Jersey Monthly.

Sandler is staying in Montclair while working on the Netflix movie, known right now as “Untitled Roommates Project,” which stars one of his daughters. Neighbors have seen Sandler spending time outside in the area, sources say, and he’s reportedly also been spotted shooting hoops in town at Rand Park.

Over the last couple of days, Sandler has been shooting in nearby Livingston at local restaurant/deli Nana’s Deli, which owners say will be closed through July 9 because of the production. For the movie, Nana’s has been repainted with “Birenbaum’s, EST 1985” in the window, advertising deli favorites like matzo ball soup, chopped liver, reubens, pastrami and knishes.

The flick is also shooting at the nearby Korean restaurant Ilpoom, also in Livingston.

Livingston locals say Sandler, who is famously one of the nicest people in Hollywood, has been friendly to residents, taking selfies with fans who showed up to set. We hear that catering for the film is located in the now-empty shopping center that once housed Walgreens.

“It’s exciting to have a little slice of Hollywood in L-town,” says one local who snuck a peek at filming on Thursday night.

According to a casting notice, filming for the Netflix project goes through August 12.

Last year, Sandler, wife Jackie and daughter Sunny stayed in New Jersey during Happy Gilmore 2 filming; daughter Sadie had recently started her freshman year at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts—where Sandler went to school.

Sandler really got to know the area and was spotted at places like Goldberg’s World Famous Deli & Bagels in Millburn, the swanky French restaurant Faubourg in Montclair, the Montclair Golf Club, where we hear he ate lunch with his daughter, and the coffee shop Lokl Café in Morristown.

“We were very excited about it. It was a nice surprise,” Lokl owner Panos Stogioglou told us at the time. “He was super friendly and was there for a long time, taking pictures with all the staff.”

Happy Gilmore 2 premieres in just a couple of weeks, on July 25.
