How do you get glass and make windows in Hytale? Well, there’s good news and bad news. While you can’t get glass blocks in Hytale, that doesn’t mean you can’t make windows for your building. You can make glass products – just not glass blocks or panels via glass. Let us explain.
Hytale is a survival crafting game at its core. And while it takes many inspirations from the greats that came both before and after its lengthy road to a playable early access release, how you get some staple materials and building supplies can be a little different from what you’re used to. Want to turn the whole game into something else entirely? There are plenty of Hytale mods ready to do that.
How to get glass in Hytale
If you want to go through with your original plan of turning sand into glass – just like you would in Minecraft – you’re welcome to do so. Just don’t expect to produce a block of oddly malleable glass.

To make a start and find sand in Hytale, open the map and look for a big body of water – a lake usually works best – and check its edges for any sand-colored terrain that signifies a beach. Head there, beat up the blocks with your pickaxe, and you should get sand.
Sand can be inserted into the Furnace, and while you won’t get a simple block of glass to craft into glass panels for things like windows, you will get Glass Bottles. These can be used with the Alchemy Table to make all sorts of handy potions, or used to scoop up water and other liquids.

How do you make windows in Hytale?
Making windows in Hytale is a whole other story. To make a window in Hytale, you don’t need glass at all. Just chuck any type of wood into the Builder’s Workench and you should spot a four-panel glass window among the list of craftable goods. A single block of wood is good for two windows.
Don’t have a Builder’s Workbench? It’s a simple craft from the third tab of the standard crafting workbench. Six of any wood and three stone will do the job.
And there you have it – glass in Hytale. Hytale isn’t a one-for-one crafting copy of Minecraft after all. In the mood for something else? Try the best crafting games while Hytale continues to mature.
