Viv & Jules, Hoboken

Downtown Hoboken’s new neighborhood American brasserie, now open in the former Stewed Cow space, offers elegant cuisine, elevated cocktails and an eclectic wine list. Viv & Jules is the collaboration of longtime Hoboken restaurateur John Avoletta and celebrity chef Cliff Crooks.

Warique, Belleville

Perched on a quiet suburban street, this new Peruvian restaurant from chefs Roberto Carnero and Luis Blasini is a hidden gem, serving traditional dishes like ceviche, papas a la huancaína, pulpo (octopus), and seafood jalea.

Nightshade Coffee, Westwood

This Victorian-inspired Gothic spot serves artisan coffee and hand-selected teas in a hauntingly elegant setting.

The Usual Suspects, Raritan

This intimate, chic bar and restaurant, adorned with evocative murals, has opened in the space formerly occupied by Michael’s Inn.

Arooga’s Sports Bar, East Brunswick

The last New Jersey location of Arooga’s Sports Bar closed in East Brunswick in early December. It featured a variety of classic bar eats, plus beer and signature cocktails.

Hank Schwartz’s Delicatessen is debuting a “seacuterie” board for its Feast of the Smoked & Cured Fishes in Jersey City.

Plus: Canal House Station in Milford is closing, while an NJ native has made it to the top 10 on Hell’s Kitchen.
