Openings
Revel Hall, Burlington
Michelin-starred chef Joey Sergentakis is opening a modern, semi-fine-dining American restaurant in historic Burlington. Rooted in seasonal, ingredient-driven cooking and infused with global influences, Revel Hall is slated for a soft opening on December 10. The menu, inspired by Sergentakis’s travels and culinary expertise, draws from a rich tapestry of influences—blending European techniques, Asian complexity, Latin vibrancy and Mediterranean warmth.
Emberside Brewery, Berkeley Heights
Emberside Brewery is coming to Berkeley Heights in 2026. It will serve as a dynamic hub for craft beer, connection and local flavor in the heart of The District at The Park—a 60-acre downtown destination for shopping, dining and entertainment anchored by a walkable main street. In addition to Emberside, The District will launch an exciting mix of venues and experiences, including a new Mexican restaurant, a steakhouse/speakeasy concept and New Jersey’s first duckpin bowling venue.
Handroll House, East Rutherford
The creators of Butterfish sushi, which made NJM‘s Best New Restaurants list this year, are bringing New Jersey’s first handroll bar to East Rutherford this week, opening in early January. The team includes two Michelin-starred chefs, and the menu will feature made-to-order handrolls with crisp nori, warm rice and high-quality fish.
Nana’s Dim Sum & Dumplings, Hoboken
This acclaimed Colorado-based dim sum chain has begun expanding to the East Coast and is coming to Southend Hoboken. At Nana’s, dumplings, noodles, dim sum, and other small plates are handmade with an emphasis on freshness and craftsmanship; guests can often watch dumplings being folded and baskets of dim sum steamed right before their eyes. This Hoboken location will have a liquor license and seat 80 guests.
Closings
Bacarosa, Nutley
The Nutley restaurant that began as The Hudson Rose last year and reopened as the Italian concept Bacarosa this summer has announced it will close. “The economics of this industry have always been challenging, and even more so in recent times,” the owners wrote in an Instagram statement. Reservations are still available through the final service on Saturday, December 20, which will be commemorated with a party.
