The third and final suspect in the 2023 drive-by shooting death of Gumdel Gilo was sentenced to prison Thursday in Mower County District Court.
Following the convictions and sentencing of the shooter, Jenup Stepen Chop in February of this year, and accomplice Manamany Omot Abella on July 31, Cham Obang Oman was sentenced Thursday to 338 months — or 28 years and two months in prison. He will be required to spend at least two-thirds of the sentence in prison and will receive credit for two years, one month and 71 days already served.

He was also ordered to pay restitution of $5,560.
Oman was the only one of the three charged in the death of Gilo to go to trial and on July 14 was convicted on count two of second-degree aiding and abetting murder in a drive-by shooting and counts three and four of second-degree murder by drive-by shooting.
He was acquitted on both counts 1 and 5 — aiding and abetting murder in the first degree and aiding and abetting dangerous weapons drive-by shooting toward a person.
Oman was believed to have been the driver of the vehicle from which Chop fired the fatal shots that killed Gilo and injured two others — Isaiah Johnson and Shelissa Bentzin.
Chop was sentenced on Feb. 28 and was handed a total of 450 months in prison, receiving 297 months for the murder charge and 210 and 153 months respectively for the attempted murder charges.
The 153 month sentence would run consecutive to the previous two sentences with the 210 month sentence running concurrently. For each sentence, Chop will be required to spend at least two-thirds of the sentence in prison.
For his part, Abella was sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to pay $5,560 in restitution.
According to the court complaint, Abella had been sitting in the front passenger seat at the time of the shooting and prior to the shooting had instructed the victims to follow the vehicle he, Chop and Oman were driving.
