Closings

Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen, Morristown

The celebrated restaurant and bar, which has been a top New Jersey Monthly dining spot for years, announced this week that it’s closing its doors after a decade in business. In a social media post, owner Chris Cannon wrote,”It is with great sadness today that I am forced to announced the closing of Jockey Hollow Bar and Kitchen after ten amazing years.”

He cited the pandemic for causing significant changes in consumer behavior, labor and cost increases across the board that made operating and producing the high-quality product they were known for increasingly difficult. He said they were hoping to find a buyer for the restaurant last year and that a deal was in place to take effect in December, but the purchaser backed out at the eleventh hour, and thus they had no choice but to close their doors. The restaurant was located inside the Vail Mansion and had several dining spaces including a raw bar, a lounge and a fine-dining spot.

Cannon added that was was “very proud and humbled” to have been consistently included on New Jersey Monthly‘s annual list of the state’s best restaurants, and to have received awards from Wine Spectator and Esquire magazine, and coverage in The New York Times.
