University of Wisconsin-La Crosse student-athlete Jordyn McCormack of Austin has been nominated for the 2024 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Woman of the Year Award.
Now in its 34th year, the NCAA Woman of the Year Award honors graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in academics, athletics, service and leadership.
McCormack secured National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Third Team recognition in 2022. She earned a spot on the 2023 NCAA Division III Pella, Iowa, All-Region Team. McCormack is a three-time All WIAC first team selection, earning the honor in 2022, 2023 and 2024 and being tabbed the 2022 WIAC Position Player of the Year. She was named the WIAC Position Player of the Week four times in her career. She earned 2022 NFCA All-Region VIII First Team honors.
Majoring in psychology with a minor in coaching competitive athletics, McCormack sustains a 3.85 grade point average. She secured a spot on the 2023 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America® Third Team and was named to the 2023 and 2024 CSC Academic All-District® Team. McCormack is a three-time selection on the (NFCA) All-America Scholar Team.
Named the 2024 WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete Award, McCormack was a three-year member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and recognized on UWL’s Dean’s List eight semesters.
She was a member of UWL’s Psychology Club and volunteered as a coach for MVP club softball. McCormack worked in UWL’s Athletic Department for two years.
McCormack earned four letters for the Eagles. She is UWL’s career leader in doubles (53) while ranking second in home runs (22), third in RBI (113), fourth in hits (180) and batting average (.404) and seventh in runs (107). McCormack had a single-season school record 21 doubles in 2023. Her seven RBI versus UW-Whitewater on May 6, 2023 is tied for most in school-game school history.
Established in 1991, the award recognizes female student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in their community, in athletics and in academics throughout their college careers.
Each year, NCAA member schools are encouraged to celebrate their top graduating female student-athletes by nominating them for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
The conference offices will then select up to two student-athletes from their member school nominations. (If two are chosen, one must be an international student-athlete or student-athlete of color.) Nominees who compete in a sport that is not sponsored by their school’s primary conference, as well as associate conference nominees and independent nominees, will be picked to advance by a selection committee. The Woman of the Year Selection Committee will then select 10 student-athletes from each division, determining the Top 30 honorees.
Of the Top 30, the Woman of the Year Selection Committee will announce nine finalists, three from each NCAA Division, in October. The NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics will review the finalists and name the 2024 NCAA Woman of the Year. The honorees will be celebrated at the Woman of the Year Award Ceremony at the 2025 NCAA Convention in Nashville, Tennessee in January.
